This HSS spiral flute tap set covers the most common metric thread sizes from M3 to M12. Each tap features a black oxide finish (steam oxidation treatment), which improves surface hardness and lubricity, reducing friction and the risk of galling – perfect for carbon steel, cast iron, and general engineering materials. The spiral flute geometry directs chips upward and out of the hole, making these taps ideal for blind hole applications where chip packing is a concern.
The set includes M3×0.5 (50mm OAL), M4×0.7 (56mm), M5×0.8 (62mm), M6×1.0 (71mm), M8×1.25 (70mm), M10×1.5 (80mm), and M12×1.75 (86mm). All taps have a standard square shank, compatible with tap wrenches for manual use as well as CNC tap holders and collet chucks for machine tapping. The etched markings indicate thread size and HSS material clearly.
