Product Specifications:
This HSSE M42 spiral flute tap features 8% cobalt content, delivering exceptional red hardness and wear resistance at elevated temperatures. The TiN coating (gold) further reduces friction, minimizes built-up edge, and increases surface hardness, making it particularly effective for threading abrasive and heat-resistant materials. The 15° spiral angle ensures efficient chip evacuation in blind holes, while the 3‑flute design provides balanced cutting action and improved thread finish.
The M12x1.25 size has a total length of 100mm and working length of 22mm, ideal for medium-depth blind holes in stainless steel (304, 316, 17-4 PH), heat-resistant superalloys (Inconel, Hastelloy), titanium alloys, and hardened steels up to 35 HRC. The TiN coating allows for higher cutting speeds and extended tool life compared to uncoated HSSE taps.
Typical applications include aerospace components, medical implants, power generation parts, and automotive exhaust systems where high-temperature strength and wear resistance are critical. Custom options include alternative coatings (TiAlN, AlCrN), left‑hand flutes, reduced shank diameters, and special thread tolerances (6HX, 4H). For demanding high-temperature applications, HSSE M42 taps outperform standard HSS by up to 50% in tool life.
HSSE M42 taps for automotive manufacturing offer 8% cobalt for superior heat resistance and tool life. Perfect for engine, transmission, and exhaust components in stainless and heat-resistant alloys.
