This HSS spiral point tap is specifically designed for UNC 1/2-13 threads in through‑hole applications. The TiN (titanium nitride) coating reduces friction and increases wear resistance, making it suitable for production environments. The spiral point (gun) geometry projects chips forward through the hole, eliminating chip packing and allowing continuous high‑speed tapping – ideal for CNC machining centers and lathes.
The UNC 1/2-13 tap features a total length of 90mm (3.5") and a working length of 35mm (1.27"), with a 2B tolerance class for standard American internal threads. Its 3‑flute design offers a good balance of core strength and chip clearance. Do not use for blind holes as chips are forced forward; use a spiral flute tap instead. Common applications include American standard fasteners, automotive parts, and general machinery.
