Product Specifications:
This HSSE spiral flute tap is manufactured to A30 DIN 15D standard, featuring a 4‑flute design for improved chip splitting and reduced cutting load per flute. The 15° spiral angle ensures efficient chip evacuation in blind holes, while the larger core diameter provides high torsional strength – essential for the M18x1.5 thread size. With an overall length of 110mm and working length of 25mm, it is well-suited for medium-depth blind holes in cast iron, alloy steel, stainless steel, and aluminum alloys.
The M18x1.5 tap is designed for heavy-duty threading applications such as large hydraulic components, industrial gearboxes, wind turbine parts, and heavy machinery frames. The 4‑flute geometry offers smoother cutting action and better thread surface finish compared to 3‑flute designs, particularly in tougher materials like ductile cast iron (GGG50) and alloy steels (4140, 4340). Although supplied uncoated, TiN or TiAlN coatings can be applied upon request to further enhance wear resistance and heat dissipation.
Custom options include left‑hand flutes, reduced shank diameters, alternative coatings (CrN, AlCrN), and special thread tolerances (6HX, 4H). For high-volume production runs, this A30 DIN 15D tap delivers consistent performance and long tool life, reducing cost per hole.
Spiral flute taps are ideal for blind holes (chip evacuation upward), while spiral point taps are best for through holes.Read full guide →
